NSACL Announces New Executive Director

The Nova Scotia Association for Community Living (NSACL) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Patricia Neves as the organization’s new Executive Director. NSACL is a provincial not-for-profit, devoted to ensuring people with intellectual disabilities live full and inclusive lives in community. With her more than 30 years of experience working with families and vulnerable populations, Patricia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to NSACL and has worked at the organization in a variety of roles since 2017.

“After a very thorough search, the Board of Directors is thrilled to name Patricia Neves to this tremendously important and impactful role,” says Stephanie Carver, NSACL President. “Patricia has been NSACL’s Acting Executive Director for nearly four months and even in that short time, she has demonstrated terrific leadership qualities while making strides in our organizational management. We are confident the future of NSACL is in very capable hands and we are enthusiastic about where Patricia will lead our organization.”

Patricia’s hiring comes at a time when NSACL is positioning itself to increase the organization’s visibility and viability. In the midst of a two-year strategic work plan, Patricia has been heavily involved in laying the groundwork to success while NSACL sets out to fulfill a number of strategic priorities, all focused on inclusion and promoting the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead NSACL and couldn’t be more excited to start my new role,” says Patricia Neves, NSACL’s new Executive Director. “I look forward to building on all the great work and commitment of those who have served NSACL over its more than 65-year history. We have many exciting initiatives in the pipeline, and I am thrilled to lead the team as we work to make sure people with intellectual disabilities have every opportunity to live full lives and accomplish their dreams.”

Patricia holds a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies as well as an Early Childhood Administrator Certificate, both from Mount Saint Vincent University. She has a wide variety of experience working with children, youth, adults, and families including time at the YWCA Halifax, the Halifax Association for Community Living, and the Club Inclusion. Patricia starts this new role immediately.
