Job Opportunity: Executive Director
The Nova Scotia Association for Community Living (NSACL) is a provincial not-for-profit organization committed to ensuring that individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families have the support they require to live full and inclusive lives in community. We do this by empowering and supporting individuals and families, promoting rights and values in keeping with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), encouraging reform, and collaborating with other organizations for social justice. NSACL is now seeking an accomplished non-profit leader who can usher the organization into a new era of opportunity and growth.
Are you suited for success in this role?
In this position, you will be responsible for the overall success and management of the organization, implementing the strategic direction set out by the Board of Directors. You will have experience working with diverse groups and wholeheartedly believe inclusion is the key to thriving communities. Your experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or their families will allow for your easy transition into this role as you will meet with the people we serve on a regular basis.
In addition to meeting with people with intellectual disabilities and their families, your strong communications skills will allow you to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with our stakeholders including, donors and funders, community groups, media, corporate executives, and various levels of government. As a not-for-profit, NSACL relies on relationships with these stakeholders and your professionalism, personality, and large network of contacts will be crucial to that success.
You have a track record of previous success in not-for-profit operations and management, and you will use your budgeting, fund development, capital funding, and contract negotiation skills to ensure proficient fiscal management of NSACL. You will work collaboratively with the Board with clear lines of communication and use your high level of strategic thinking skills to plan for NSACL’s current and future prosperity, including leading the organization through a name change and new brand.
As the Executive Director of NSACL, you will oversee the day-to-day operations and scheduling of NSACL’s programs and activities and lead a small but mighty team. Your collaborative leadership style will provide guidance and clear objectives so that the NSACL team will continue to strive to do their best to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
